Live Recording

Updated over a week ago

Record any conversation directly from the Noota web app, perfect for interviews, in-person sessions, user research, podcasts, coaching calls, and more.

Live Recording gives you full control over the meeting setup, recording, pausing, stopping, and using real-time guidelines. Everything is captured and synced automatically.

1. What is Live Recording?

Live Recording lets you capture audio-only recordings directly from your browser, without needing the Desktop App or Meeting Assistant bot.

It is ideal when:

  • You’re meeting in person

  • You’re recording someone speaking in the same room

  • You’re running interviews or workshops where screen capture is not needed

  • You want full manual control over recording start/stop

2. How to Start a Live Recording

Step 1 - Open the Live Recording page

Go to Dashboard → Live Recording

Step 2 - Add meeting details

The setup modal includes:

Meeting title

You can name the session (e.g., “Interview with Jason”).

Number of speakers

Set the number of participants for diarization accuracy.

Language

Choose the language spoken in the meeting.

Meeting template

Select the summary template Noota should apply after the recording.

Default microphone

Choose which microphone Noota should use (internal mic, headset, external USB mic, etc.).

When ready, click:

👉 Start Recording

3. Recording Interface

Once the recording begins, you’ll see:

  • A large animated recording visual

  • A timer

  • Controls to pause, stop, or open guidelines

4. Using Guidelines During Recording

Guidelines allow you to follow a structured script or checklist during the conversation.

Click Select guideline → choose your template.

You can switch templates anytime using Change template.

You can:

  • Check off items as you go

  • Follow the interview flow

  • Add new questions (if the template supports it)

This is especially useful for HR, coaching, product interviews, and structured assessments.

5. Pause & Resume Recording

You can pause the recording at any moment.

While paused:

  • The timer stops

  • No audio is captured

  • You can resume anytime by clicking Resume Recording

6. Stop Recording

When you click Stop, a confirmation modal appears to avoid accidental termination.

Click Confirm if the recording is finished.

Noota will then:

  • Upload the audio

  • Process transcription

  • Generate your summary

  • Apply your selected template

You will access the transcription page once processing is complete.

7. Troubleshooting

❗Microphone not detected

  • Check microphone permissions in the browser

  • Ensure another app is not using the mic

  • Restart the browser

❗Audio is low or unclear

  • Move closer to the mic

  • Use a headset or external microphone

  • Reduce background noise

❗Recording does not start

  • Browser permissions blocked

  • No microphone selected

  • Network restrictions (rare)

❗The guideline panel is empty

  • Template may not contain questions

  • Try selecting another guideline

8. Best Practices for High-Quality Live Recordings

  • Use a headset or external mic for best clarity

  • Sit in a quiet room with minimal echo

  • Keep a consistent distance from the microphone

  • Use guidelines to stay structured

  • Name your recording before starting (easier to find later)
